Research Design (A)
The dissertation addresses an important and urgent question of gender inequality in social housing looking at housing projects in Vienna. An effective framework for the analysis of your case study in the global context of housing provision is developed.
Contextualisation of Topic (A-)
The literature review covers a wide range of literature on housing design, as well as on problems with women’s access to housing. A well-executed analysis of housing policies and an introduction to the feminist critique of the built environment provides you with theoretical lenses and a good base for the further analysis of your case studies.
Methodology (A-)
The work is primarily literature-based, which is appropriate for a topic such as this. You also managed to secure a brace of interviews which adds some colour and depth and "human interest" to the work. Overall, selected sources work well to explore your research question.
Execution: Argument and Analysis (A-)
Your research aims were clear and focused. More could have been done to develop your arguments. Since you look at the global context and housing problems in the UK, you could have discussed to what extent the Viennese model could be used as a model in other countries.
Writing and Presentation (A)
The dissertation is clearly laid out and well-illustrated. On a smaller scale, your writing was clear and fairly concise. Referencing follow convention, images worked well with the text.
Summary Statement:
very relevant and timely dissertation. You worked a lot during the year and improved your thesis significantly. Well done!
